TB Joshua donates $4,500 to each affected victim's family

In the aftermath of the Synagogue guest house building collapse on September 12, TB Joshua is donating R50,000($4,500/N750,000) to each victim's family .According to spokesman Kirsten Nematandani... "We have done a full audit of each family's financial needs and assisted with various household expenses as many of the deceased were breadwinners,Household expenses varied from rent money to school fees and groceries."The church has pleaded with the Nigerian government to expedite the repatriation process in order for families to bury the deceased with dignity and receive closure," Nematandani said the church had travelled to all provinces in the past few weeks to visit, counsel and assess families' financial needs and assist where possible.

Immediate past governor of Ekiti State, Kayode John Fayemi has explained why he built the multi-million naira controversial Government House in the state. The governor has been under attack lately for lavishing the state funds on the government lodge. Boko Haram frees abducted Women.

News have revealed that the Boko Haram insurgents, Yola who reportedly abducted about 50 women and girls from two border villages between Adamawa and Borno states have freed the women among their captives. This was disclosed by villagers, who spoke on the issue with news men on the telephone from their hide-outs. They however, said that the exact number of those released could not be ascertained, but that no fewer than 45girls were still being detained. According to the villagers, the women and girls were abducted from WagaMangoro which was between Gwoza in Borno and Madagali in Adamawastates. Relatives of some of the abducted women who were later released by the insurgentsalso, told newsmen in Yola that some of the girls have been turned to cooks while others were married off immediately to some of the insurgents. A renowned Islamic preacher based in Ibadan, Oyo State, Dr Dawood Amoo, has described the birth of a baby boy clutching a pocket-size Qur'an as one of the signs of Allah. In an interview with journalists in Ibadan, Amoo said development was not strange, the boy named Ismail was unique as the saidminiQur'an contained all the 114 chapters in the holy book. The preacher testified that he was one of the earliest callers at the Owode/Academy, Ibadan residence of the parents of the baby to witness one of God's wonders. The mother, Jelilah, gave birth in a church at Oniyanrin area of the city, where the baby was seen clutching a strange object in his left hand. As doctors and scientists are trying to find a lasting solution to the Ebola virus, a new case has been recorded in New York. Dr. Craig Allen Spencer (pictured above) who is a New York doctor recently returned from treating Ebola patients in Guinea has become the first person to test positive for Ebola in the city. The 33 year old had been working with Doctors Without Borders in Guinea, and returned to NYC on October 17th. He tested positive to the virus yesterday October 23rd at the Bellevue Hospital in Manhattan New York and this will be the 4th case that has been recorded on US soil. He and three other people he had contact with in recent days, including his girlfriend have been placed in isolation at the Bellevue hospital. Residents in New York are so afraid of this latest development due to the population of the city but the New York mayor, Mayor Bill de Blasio, said there is no cause for alarm as the situation is under control. NYSC youth corpers to get N500 daily feeding allowance from FG.

The Nigerian government has announced that henceforth National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members will receive N500 as daily feeding allowance. Director General of the NYSC, Johnson Bamidele Olawumi, made the announcement at a House of Representatives Committee hearing on the N4,000 online registration fee mandated for corps members , Leadership reports. A civil society group launched a 'Say No Campaign' to protest the registration fee. It was during the hearing that Olawumi made the announcement about the new feeding allowance.

PDP gives Jonathan 1week ultimatum to declare interest.

President Goodluck Jonathan has for long kept mum on whether he would run for re-election in 2015, but now he has been given a deadline by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to make a formal declaration. According to the national leadership of the PDP, the President and other aspirants vying for elective positions must within the next one week purchase their expression of interest and nomination forms, as the party cannot go for a national convention to ratify someone who has not indicated interest to contest. National Publicity Secretary of the party, Chief Olisa Metuh told journalists at the party's national secretariat on Wednesday that the October 30 closing date for the sale of expression of interest and nomination forms will not be extended by a minute. Boko Haram abducts 60 women in Adamawa.

Despite the purported ceasefire, Sixty women were reportedly abducted by suspected members of the deadly Boko Haram sect at Waga Mangoro and Garta villages, both in Adamawa State during a fresh attack. Whilst 40 women were said to have been abducted from Waga Mangoro, 20 were forcibly uprooted from their homes in Garta. One of the locals in Garta, Tizhe Kwada, who escaped by a whisker, told Thisday "The insurgents are still in the area. They slit the throats of three men in Garta and abducted many young women. We also heard from residents of Waga that they killed two men and took 40 women away," Ahmadu, a resident in Waga Mangoro, also confirmed that the insurgents invaded his community, which borders Gwoza in Borno State. He said the insurgents used the abducted ladies as human shields during reprisals by Nigerian troops.

The police have recovered the severed head of a 28-year-old man, Ibikunle Tunde, who was killed during the cult clash in Mushin and Fadeyi areas of Lagos State last week. The head was recovered on Ojelade Street, Fadeyi, on Thursday by security operatives from the Alakara Police Station. The deceased, who had been linked to a murder last Monday, was killed in an apparent reprisal. A resident said, "In the morning of Monday last week, a lottery agent, Sheriff Alasia, was killed. Tunde, who is believed to have been among the killers, was attacked on the night of that very day. He was shot several times while his head was chopped off. "His body was recovered by the police but his head remained missing for almost four days. The killers were playing with the head in the neighbourhood and we reported to the police. Man beats his 4months pregnant wife to death in Enugu.

The police in Enugu state have arrested one Ozoemena Nwankwo, described as a serial wife beater, for allegedly beating his 4-month pregnant wife, Ndidi, to death at their Akpawfu village residence in Nkanu-East Local Government Area in Enugu on October 17th, Vanguard reports. The state's Police PRO, DSP Ebere Amaraizu, confirmed the incident in a statement... "Close family source informed the command that the suspect had been using his wife as punching bag. The suspects wife is four months pregnant. Due to the beating she got from the husband on that fateful day which inflicted injuries on her right leg and on her vital organs, she was rushed to hospital. The police in Lagos have arrested a woman, Aminat Akanni, for allegedly abducting two of her stepchildren and murdering one of them because she claimed her husband refused to provide Sallah clothes for her own son. The suspect killed one of the kids, Nofisat, by pushing her into a soakaway.Aminat was arrested by the police at CMS Bus Stop, Lagos Island, on October 9. Prior to the arrest, seven-year-old Lateef and four-year-old Nofisat had been declared missing on Friday, October 3- a day to the Sallah celebration.It was learnt that the father of the missing children, Moshood Mubo, who is also the suspect's husband, had raised the alarm and reported the case to the Adeniji Adele Police Division on Friday, October 3. Six-year-old Jeremiah Abasi was living with his parents in Ihiala area of Anambra State when his aunt, Onyebuchi Chibogu, decided to bring him to Lagos State to continue his education.However, in less than four months on Adidas Street, Olodi-Apapa area of the state, Jeremiah went missing after reportedly running an errand for his aunt's neighbour.
