A native doctor, Nze Sunday Asika (alias Aboy Ekwensu) and another person, Mr. Uchenna Ibeh, were yesterday paraded by the Department of State Service, DSS, in Awka for killing one John Nwosu, a vulcanizer, from Ahiazu Mbaise in Imo State and burying him in a shallow grave at Nkpologwu in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State. This was after the deceased asked for a refund of money paid for a charm.... Both Asika and Ibeh admitted that they killed the diseased, but disagreed on who masterminded the killing. Asika told Vanguard at DSS headquarters in Awka that though he shot John to death, it was Ibeh that carried the body and buried him in the grave. He said further that Ibeh threatened to kill him if he allowed John to go because John had not been giving them money brought by his brother in South Africa, adding that it was the same Ibeh that brought the gun he used.Ibeh, however, said that he was only working for the native doctor as an electrician...

The Nigeria Football Federation has been suspended by the world football governing body, FIFA,  NFF, with immediate effect from all activities in football. The suspension was announced in a statement released on their website today Wednesday July 9th. FIFA said the suspension was due to government interference in football activities, particularly the controversial removal of the Aminu Maigari-led board of the NFF. A High Court sitting in Jos had on July 4th sacked Aminu Maigari and other executives from the board of the NFF. This suspension by FIFA means no Nigerian team or club can participate in any FIFA competition. “As a result of this decision, no team from Nigeria of any sort (including clubs) can have any international sporting contact (art. 14 par. 3 of the FIFA Statutes),” FIFA said. Stampede  in the University of Lagos after a final year student was shot in the head on Monday at the King Jaja Hall area, Lagos State. The University of Lagos Education activities in the University of Lagos were paused as the unknown gunmen have carried out a sudden attack on one of its students. The final year student of Philosophy, Sapara, was rushed to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH, Idi-Araba, after a bullet touched the side of his head. According to some witnesses of the shooting, the possible malefactors escaped from the scene by car seen on the campus several hours before the attack. The shooting provoked panic and stampede as students were hurriedly leaving the building. However, the next day the learning process returned to normalcy as students were seen writing their exams. Passenger boat The risk associated with water transportation was once again re-enacted yesterday when a commercial passenger boat capsized at the Coconut Island channel area of Lagos. In the aftermath of the accident, one Idris Adekunle was declared missing while many others sustained various degrees of injuries. The incident happened around the Iba and Tincan Island area of the state. While other passengers of the local boat were rescued alive, Adekunle as at press time was yet to be found despite rescue efforts. This is just as some of the passengers who sustained   injuries have since been taken to the hospital for treatment while those with minor injuries have been discharged. According to eyewitness account, the boat capsized when waves from an oncoming bigger vessel swamped it and sent the passengers into the salty water.  New York City Police are hunting for an African American woman who was seen abandoning a baby girl on a subway platform According to Daily mail, witnesses saw an unidentified African-American woman, believed to be in her 20s or 30s, pushing a stroller out of a northbound 1 train at Columbus Circle at about 11:50am. The woman then darted back on the train just before the doors shut, leaving the approximately 7-month-old baby girl on her own. Surveillance footage released by the NYPD shows the woman entering the subway with the baby in the stroller earlier in the day. A 33-year-old bystander stayed with the baby for 20 minutes, waiting for the woman to return.When no one came to claim the child, the witness contacted police

An officail of Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) identified as Asorona allegedly beat up a motorist to convulsion at Ketu bus stop in Lagos on Tuesday morning, July 8, 2014 at about 7:30am. According to reports , the official stopped the driver, whom he car he claimed had violated traffic rules, removed him from the car and allegedly assaulted him. While he was doing this, his colleagues seized the man’s car. While the assault was ongoing, reports say the driver fell down on the road into convulsion. Reports say he was shaking like an epileptic patient. The LASTMA official tried to flee the scene but was stopped by passersby who insisted he must stay there to see what happens to the man. Reports has it that Castro and his girlfriend were on a jet ski, when she fell into the water. Sixty-three women abducted by Bokoharam from Kummabza village in the Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State two weeks ago have escaped from their kidnappers. The Federal Government denied the abduction but the Borno State Governor, Alhaji Kashim Shettima, set up an inquiry into the kidnap. However, security sources and eyewitnesses told journalists that 63 out of the 70 abducted women had escaped from captivity and made their way back home. Some residents of the villages where the women were abducted told journalists that the women who looked unkempt returned home on Saturday. One Adamu Suleiman, a member of the youth vigilante group told Punch “I have just received an alert from my colleagues in Damboa area that about 63 of the abducted women and girls had made it back home.
