Bobby Womack, an highly influential R&B singer-songwriter who influenced artists from the Rolling Stones to Damon Albarn, has died.  Womack’s publicist Sonya Kolowrat said on Friday that the singer had died, but she could provide no other details. Womack was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease two years ago and overcame addiction and multiple health issues, including prostate cancer, to pull off a second act in his career. Womack performed recently at the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival and seemed in good health and spirits. He had been scheduled to perform at multiple events across Europe in July and August. A fatal motor accident occurred this morning June 27 along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway leaving at least six people dead and causing a traffic gridlock on the road. The accident happened around the Berger/Kara axis of the expressway and was caused by a truck trying to avoid another parked on the road since last month. A six-year-old boy, Emmanuel Emeka,  was rescued from a suspected kidnapper on Wednesday in the Ikorodu area of Lagos,Emeka has recounted how he was lured, seized and tied up by his abductor.   He said the suspect, identified as Mama Ifunaya, who was a neighbour, lured him into her room, strangled him,covered his mouth with clothes before tying him up with rope to prevent him from screaming. He explained further  “I wanted to draw water and take my bath before going to school when she told me to come. I went because I know her; she is Mama Ifunnaya. Three youths has been killed and many others injured when soldiers suspected to be attached to the Special Task Force (STF) on peacekeeping in Jos opened fire on them while celebrating a birthday party at Joenice Bar at Nyango Gel, Bukuru low cost area of Jos, the Plateau State capital, late Sunday night. But the STF has denied the allegation, saying nobody was killed by soldiers. It was reported that a heated argument had ensued at the party, prompting the club owner to alert the soldiers stationed around the area.
