The 2014 World cup began yesterday evening June 12th with a colorful opening ceremony at the Arena de Sao Paulo in Brazil that  cost around $4.5million to put together. International music stars, Jennifer Lopez and Pitbull were joined on stage by Brazilian pop-star Claudia Leitte to perform the official World Cup song ‘We Are One (Ola Ola)’.
The ceremony was followed by the opening match of the tournament – hosts Brazil vs Croatia. The match ended 3-1 in favour of Brazil. And what a match it was!
I wasn’t going to post this before but some of you were complaining that I didn’t post anything about the world cup opening ceremony/match…(Like y’all didn’t watch it live…*hiss*). Lol. Anyway, that’s why it’s coming late…:-).. See plenty more photos after the cut…

The opening ceremony took on a variety of different themes, with entertainers dressed in everything from flowers and trees to life size footballs (pictured)Preparations for the opening ceremony, which falls on Brazil¿s Valentine¿s Day, started in March. There were 84 hours of rehearsals, with some 20 hours of artistic work going into each minute of the ceremony

Robbers circulate letters of their coming to residents in Igando, Lagos

We have come to the stage where armed robbers now write to residents of their coming so they can prepare earlier and keep something for them (robbers). Residents of Onimaba, College Bus stop, Ikotun Road, Igando, Lagos have been given reasons to live in fear since last week Thursday after a letter purportedly written by armed robbers circulated their streets. The letter, numbering about 20 was typed on an A4 paper and was scattered on the streets, which was noticed by residents as they woke up on Thursday morning. The letter reads, "Be prepared, be prepared, be prepared. Our dues must be paid this festive season. Nobody can stop us as we can strike at any time. Only enough money can save your life. To be forewarned is to be fore-harmed. We don inform you people of this area. if you get ear, make you hear ooooo." A landlord who gave his name as Alhaji Lawal during an interview with Punch, said.. Riots In The Streets Of Brazil After World Cup Humiliation By Germany [PHOTOS]

  Riot police were out in force with several Brazilian cities in case trouble kicked off. in Rio de janeiro officers descended on copacabana beach amid reports of gunfire. Authorities were called to a densely populated area of Sao paulo after football supporters reportedly set a bus alight. Spectators inside the Mineirao stadium in Belo horizonte were in tears as a their sides succumbed to a humiliating 7-1 defeat to Germany in the world cup semi-final ending dreams of a title on home soil last night. Brazil head coach Felipe Scolari said he had experienced the worst day of his life in the wake of the result. he said i will be remembered probably because i lost 7-1, the worst defeat brazil has ever had but that was a risk i knew i was running  when i accepted this position. Life goes on that's what i will do.
