‘My Boys Were Nervous; We’ll Do Better In Our Next Game’, Stephen Keshi Apologises After Stalemate
“The boys were too nervous and unsettled,” Keshi told Optima Live. “You don’t do that at this stage. happens in football. We really didn’t perform as expected but we have to move on.
“I wanted a win but must take a draw. We must do better to get a win against Bosnia,” said the Big Boss
Midfielder, Ogenyi Onazi also promised Nigerians an improved performance on Saturday as they take on Bosnia-Herzegovina.
“It wasn’t a bad game but we know we were supposed to do more, even though our opponents sat back to defend,” Onazi told Goal.
“We tried to get a goal but it was difficult for us,” he said.
The 21-year-old Onazi also said as a collective, the team was determined to lay down a marker in their next game of the tourney.
“The [team] spirit is still intact, we’re trying to encourage ourselves and look forward to the next game,” he said.
“We apologize [to Nigerians] for the draw but in the next game we’re going to step up and make sure we get the three points.
“We believe we will qualify for the next round,” he concluded.
