Being breast aware is crucial for your health and well-being. This responsibly is not one to be regarded as a restriction to your everyday lifestyle: no matter how busy you are you should take the moments required to make sure you are safe and healthy.
It has been shown that any breast anomaly detected and treated early leads to a higher chance of successful treatment.
The Key words are: Touch, Look, Check
What is a breast self examination (BSE)
This is a conscious action taken by a women to inspect her breast through touching and observation, looking for any changes in each breast.

Why do a BSE
It is important to establish a familiarity with your breasts, so that you can detect any changes that may occur, even at early stages.
When do you do BSE
You should check your breasts every month, especially 5-7days after your period. For menopausal and breast feeding mothers, pick a particular day of each month i.e 7th of every month.
How do you do a BSE
Through looking and feeling.
What to look out for
Beware of any lump or hard knot in the breast or the armpit. Any swelling or redness or darkening of the breast area. Look out for any changes in the size, shape or symmetry of your breasts. Dimpling, any skin irritations or nipple rash, sores or pain. Pulling in of the nipple or pointing of the nipple in a new direction. If you notice any changes that may constitute minor or major, we advise that you see your doctor for clarification through a Clinical assessment.
