BREAKING: Boko Haram Strikes Again, Kills 30 In Borno


Members of the Boko Haram sect attacked Shawa village in Damboa Local Government Area of Borno state killing 30.
The Islamist extremist group on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 attacked the city of Jos killing over 118 in a twin bomb blast.
The sect attacked Shawa village at about 4 a.m on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 while the villagers were asleep, shooting sporadically and setting houses ablaze with petrol bombs.

An eyewitness who escaped the attacks said the insurgents continually chanted “Allahu akbar”, which translates as “God is great” while shooting sporadically.
Another resident of the vilage said: “It was at about 4am when we began to hear the sounds of vehicles; then it was followed by shooting of guns. We immediately knew we were in trouble.”
Muhammed Gava, an official spokesman of the Nigerian Vigilance Group, who spoke with pressmen said apart from killing 30 people, the gunmen also  set many houses ablaze, including 100 bags of maize and another 50 bags of millet stored for sales in the coming market days,  and went away with many goats and rams.
Gava said: “Our men in Damboa had visited the village in the morning and reported to us that the village, which is close to Kilakisa community along Biu-Maiduguri highway, had been deserted; and they had to help gather the corpses for burial.”
